Learn about the transition that happens as a young adult turns 18. Discuss supported decision-making – guardianship and alternatives, Social Security, Medicaid waiver programs and other “adulting topics”.

Christina Butero has worked with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a variety of roles for over 22 years. Christina volunteered with The Arc Pikes Peak Region for 12 years prior to being hired as the Director of Public Relations and Development in August of 2008. Christina became the Coordinator of The Arc’s guardianship program in 2012. Christina is a nationally certified guardian through the Center for Guardianship Certification. She earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology from Trinidad State Junior College and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations from the University of Southern Colorado (renamed Colorado State University at Pueblo). She received The Arc’s Don Haney Award in 2005 and the President’s Award in 2012. Christina was born and raised in Southern Colorado.
