ACES Beginnings

Nearly 30 years ago, ACES began as an idea by an innovative Special Education teacher, Kristin Farmer. Kristin built out a model autism classroom using environmental arrangement, clear visual structure, and child-friendly spaces where expectations were clear to students. With the classroom created, she began to model and train teachers within the district and even in neighboring districts. After seeing the progress in the children within their school days, she knew they could further benefit from similar supports in their natural environments. Her dreams were to teach those close to them on how to arrange their environment and their own behavior to maximize her students’ potential and to thrive within each of their environments. Her drive for results put her at the forefront of the services that we know now as center based and in-home ABA.

The influence of her model classroom, backed in research and designed for the success of each student, is still represented in every ACES clinic today. Supporting these families and children in and out of the classroom became her purpose, and thus ACES was born. ACES respects the whole person, family and environment in which they live and collaborates with all caregivers and professionals invested in the individual. ACES looks for ways for their clients to thrive while having fun, building connections, and celebrating what makes them unique!

Timely Access to Care - ACES has a dedicated team to support families in the initiation of ABA services, beginning with an initial consultation and verification of insurance benefits. ACES also has dedicated clinicians who are trained and available to provide the initial assessment appointment.

Assessment Bundle - Person Centered, socially valid assessments when combined with ASD sensitive assessments can yield the most effect treatment plans to creating meaningful outcomes. ACES uses person-centered planning (PCP) as part of our onboarding process and ongoing assessment process as well as standardized assessments that are sensitive to the ASD Core Deficits put forth in the DSM-5.

Medical Necessity - ACES staff is highly trained in the creation of personalized treatment plans based upon established medical necessity. Our hours recommendations, domains, goals, and parent involvement plans are all individualized for each of our clients with medical necessity at the forefront. ACES meets medical necessity-driven guidelines by delivering treatment plans authorized by payors more than 99% of the time, with payor audit scores also above 97%.

Client Experience - As a field, we must ensure that caregivers are included and valued as a member of the care team and that the treatment is the utmost beneficial to the client. A survey of 1,812 caregivers receiving intervention from ACES indicated that overall satisfaction in the areas of intervention related to their treatment plans are 8.5 out of 10. Through these satisfaction surveys, we can understand how families are experiencing care, and can adjust quickly if a caregiver indicates a low score.

ABA Outcomes

A brief study of 270 caregivers who received six months of ABA with the ACES Care Model, indicated an average of 11.3% reduction in stress as shown in the stress percentile change in the PSI. Confident, competent, and supported caregivers are able to best support their family members when they need it most.
