ACES is prepared to implement the following plan for distance learning:
Start Today! Call (855) 223-7123
- Distance learning plan to begin on Monday, April 20th, pending approval of this plan from each school district.
- Prior to providing services, ACES will discuss the current technology modality being used with the student for distance learning and assess if the student has access to a device for distance learning by surveying both the students’ family/guardian and the students’ teacher. ACES does have a device lending program for clients who meet the criteria.
- ACES is able to provide BID/Supervision (Behavior Intervention and Design) services via the online video conferencing tool Zoom. This would require recipients to download the Zoom application and have access to a phone, tablet, or computer with internet service. BID can be provided daily or based on the level of service documented in the students’ IEP or the level of service that the team agrees to per the distance learning plan for that student. ACES can provide detailed parent/student trainings on how to use the Zoom application.
- With approval from teachers, case managers, and Supervisors, ACES can provide BII (Behavior Intervention Implementation) services in person while practicing social distancing or via the online video conferencing tool Zoom. Behavioral Interventionists using Zoom will assist with implementation of the behavior intervention plan and IEP goals similarly to how it’s done in person by working directly with the student or by using the parent to support and facilitate intervention. Services for BII and progress on goals will be documented as stated below using the Catalyst Data platform.

- Supervisors will schedule virtual meetings with parents/guardians, teachers and students. Supervisors will email the link for the meeting and agenda to the students/guardians, teachers in advance. Supervisors may also join video conferencing sessions set up by the student’s teacher. Supervisors will provide input on implementation of the behavior intervention plan and IEP goals.
- Supervisors may provide recorded video models to support implementation of IEP goals or the behavior intervention plan,
- Distance learning activities will be documented on an electronic data collection system. ACES uses the Catalyst data application to record data on IEP goals and behaviors targeted for decrease. Services will be documented using PASS notes to include student and/or parent/guardian participation and attendance. Service logs will be available upon request.
- Parents/guardians and students may be provided the following materials prior to or during distance learning as consistent with their IEP. Supervisors will document what materials have been provided via pictures or on the electronic data collection system.
- Current classroom daily schedule
- Behavior Intervention Plans
- Daily visual schedule template and materials to implement daily schedule
- Social Narratives (Social Stories)
- Token boards
- Materials to support individual goals or implementation of behavior intervention plan (e.g. behavior contracts, self match behavior sheets, visual first/then contingency, work systems, visual cues to support coping strategies, visuals to support functional communication)
- Visually structured file folders and visually structured tasks
- Given that distance learning provides its own challenges and is new for many students and parents alike, ACES can provide 1:1 parent training and coaching to teach parents how to implement their child’s IEP goals, behavior intervention plans, positive behavior support strategies and more. In addition, ACES offers 1:1 parent training in the group setting using video conferencing tools like zoom.
