Communication Platforms

To ACES Clients and Staff, At the rate in which information is needing to be disseminated, ACES is working on setting up multiple communication platforms designed to ensure our clients and staff are informed. COVID-19 Updates

We are aware the Coronavirus 2019-nCoV (COVID-19) is causing increased concern in our communities and we want to assure you the health and safety of our clients and staff is always our highest priority. We are closely following the developments surrounding this outbreak, as well as any potential implications it may have for our clients and staff.

What ACES is Doing…

ACES continues to monitor the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website for the most up-to-date information about COVID-19 and follow CDC guidance, as well the guidance from public health departments at the State and County levels, in an effort to keep our clients and staff populations safe and healthy. This is a rapidly evolving situation and we will follow the latest CDC updates for guidance on the most effective and sensible prevention measures. Please be assured that if, at any point, a client or staff member is suspected to have the COVID-19, ACES will work with public health authorities to collaborate with that client’s or staff member’s own physician to guide any further restrictions and public notifications.

What to consider…

To ensure we continue to provide a safe environment for all, we ask everyone to please be mindful and respectful of those around you by adhering to these guidelines:

  • Anyone who believes they may have been exposed to COVID-19 should contact their healthcare provider immediately. Healthcare professionals will work with the appropriate authorities to determine if testing for COVID-19 is necessary. Please note the CDC advises against going to a medical office or the emergency room unless directed to do so by a healthcare provider.
  • If a client or staff member is feeling sick with fever (>100.4 F/>38C), or respiratory symptoms (e.g., a cough or difficulty breathing), they should contact their healthcare provider right away and avoid contact with others until they have no fever for 24 hours, without fever medication.
  • A client or staff member who has traveled to any affected international location with widespread sustained (ongoing) transmission may be asked to stay home for a period of 14 days from the time they left the area with widespread or ongoing community spread (Level 3 Travel Health Notice).
  • A client or staff member who has been in contact with a person with a laboratory-confirmed case of COVID-19 may be asked to stay home for a period of 14 days from the time they last made contact with the person.
  • Many clients and/or staff may travel with their families during the Spring Break. ACES suggests reviewing the following website before traveling: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices.

How can I help?

Everyone can do their part to help us respond to this emerging public health threat:

  • Consider a flu shot. It’s currently flu and respiratory disease season and CDC recommends getting a flu vaccine. Please make sure all family members are up-to-date with their flu shots.
  • Promote basic hygiene:
    • Any coughing or sneezing should be directed into one’s sleeve, rather than into hands or the air.
    • Wash hands after using and handling used tissues, after blowing nose, before/after eating, and after toilet use.
    • Wash for 20 seconds with soap, rub between fingers and under nails; and then rinse and dry. Use alcohol (60%+) hand gel if sinks are not readily available.
    • Avoid rubbing your own eyes, nose and mouth.
    • Do not share utensils, cups etc.
  • Stay home when sick. If you feel sick with fever or a cough or have difficulty breathing-and have recently traveled to any affected international location with widespread sustained (ongoing) transmission, or were in close contact with someone with the COVID-19 in the last 14 days before you began to feel sick, please contact your healthcare provider right away and avoid contact with others, including visiting ACES facilities.
