TABLE OF CONTENTS
Your environment has dramatically changed over the past few weeks. Let’s go back to basics and set you up for success during this time. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your ABA services through Telehealth.
- Take care of yourself. Grab a cup of coffee or tea before meeting with us on the screen. Use this time to think about what really matters right now. We can partner with you to bring it back to basics and keep your household positive during this uncertain time.
Supervision and Parent Support Meetings
- Instead of trying to describe your child’s behavior, record your child’s behavior and bring it to your ACES session to “show” the behavior and make a plan together! Let us be the expert on function, you have enough on your plate.
- Write your questions down throughout the week to bring to your ACES session. Get your questions and concerns addressed with support from your ACES Supervisor!

Direct ABA Sessions with a BI
Give it a shot, see how it works!
- Decide where the best place for the session will be. How can siblings be incorporated?
- Prepare activities and supplies before an ABA session with a behavior interventionist. Choose activities that your child does well, during this crisis our goals are to maintain and prevent regression. We want to work on building skills that your child already has!
- Time it right. Think about what your child does well, create opportunities for your child to do what they do well before beginning an ABA session with a behavior interventionist, allow the activity to continue when the ABA session begins (In other words: Do not schedule a session when your child may be tired, Do not place a lot of demands on your child before a session, do not give them a lot of access to reinforcers before a session, Do not make your child stop a preferred activity to begin an ABA session).
- Don’t Stress. If siblings and life is happening in your household, don’t worry! We are behavior analyst and are able to adapt to our environments. You might even be able to get things done while your children are engaged with our behavior interventionist!
