TABLE OF CONTENTS
All children notice when their parents’ eyes light up for them. It’s a precious moment that lets them know in one look just how important they are. In a family with autism, the reality is a parent’s gaze is more often pulled in the direction of their sibling’s pressing needs. Brothers and sisters understand this, learnbut they may silently wish more attention was given to their interests and accomplishments -- and their challenges, too.
What Can You Do with Siblings This Month?
- Ask your child what times of the day with you makes them happiest? Is it when they first wake up, after school, on an outing, or maybe when they are settling down for the night?
- Plan a time for a special activity just you and your child share that becomes your “regular thing”.
