In addition to all the clinic-based and Telehealth events and programs offered by ACES, we offer community-based programming to assist parents and caregivers in accessing family venues and events they may not otherwise feel comfortable attending without support from their ACES staff.

Community Integration Program (CIP) is a community-based group ABA program that provides opportunities for ACES clients and their families to access community locations and activities with ABA and family support.

A parent or caregiver is required to attend the event with their child. Families are encouraged to attend with the whole family (I.e., siblings and other caregivers) so everyone can learn to support the child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the generalized setting.

The locations selected for CIP events are common and frequently visited by families. We identify locations that families would want to go to together outside of an ABA session.

  • Theme Parks
  • Library
  • Museum
  • Restaurants
  • Zoo
  • Arcades

CIP was created to provide opportunities for families to engage in typical outings with support from ACES staff. The goal of CIP is for families to learn the tools needed to be successful in the generalized setting without the support of ACES staff.

ACES staff work with families to create visuals on the fly. We use notecards, sheets of paper or even the back of a receipt to write out specific goals for your child. Token systems and other visual aids can be drawn or written out to provide visual expectations for the event. ACES staff model and provide feedback for families on when to intervene or reinforce behaviors and skills.

We end on success! We start each CIP session discussing and agreeing on goals for the event to ensure that each session ends on a successful note. We want to ensure that the events and locations are fun for both the client and their family. This creates the opportunity for families to come back and enjoy themselves again the next time and build on progress made during the previous session.
