The Best Things to Gift a Child with Autism This Christmas

The pleasure of giving is an essential part of Christmas. Racking our brains over what to gift our loved ones is an inevitable part of the equation. It can be tough to decide what gifts will be unique and useful for children with autism. This guide will give you ideas of some great items to add to Santa's list! Many neurodivergent children have different needs and desires. Try to identify some of the things these children usually engage with to find a gift that will be perfect for them.

ACES - Chew Toy for Kids

For the Child Who Can Chew Through Anything

We recommend toys that are made specifically for chewing. We have found that many children have oral fixations and chew on things they probably shouldn't. There are a variety of chewable toys, including necklaces and pencil toppers, that don't pose a choking danger. The pencil toppers are great for older children who bite their pencils.

ACES - Fidget

For the Kids Who Love Sensory Objects

Look for sensory toys and activities! These come in all shapes and sizes and are great for children who love to touch and feel everything around them. If your child is constantly doing something with their hands, look for fidget toys that fit their needs. Some of these are squares with different tactile objects they can run through their fingers. For kids who love to run, consider liquid tiles they can squish and play with.

ACES - Weighted Blanket

For the Child That Loves Some Peace and Quiet

Consider a weighted blanket. They can keep these blankets in their room for bedtime or bring them out when they need an extra big hug. There are also weighted stuffed animals that offer a similar type of comfort with some added cuteness!

ACES - Science

For the Teen or Adult

Base your gift on their interests. For example, if the person is into math and science, consider science experiment kits, robots or books. Some other interest based gifts may include: art supplies, sports equipment or collectables.

We hope this list provided some "gift-inspiration" for you and joy to the child in your life this holiday season. Merry Christmas!
