Frequent requests from a parent to help a sibling with autism, keep them occupied, or keep them safe can be stressful for a child and is not always developmentally appropriate. In order for all children to have the opportunity to be children in a family with a sibling with autism, outside adult support may be helpful to juggle the additional challenges involved with raising a child with special needs.

What Can You Do with Siblings This Month?

  1. Take a week to notice the times you rely on your other children to help with things you would normally take care of if not for your child with special needs.
