I am a father of one of those 1 in 59. My beautiful daughter Hartley was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in June 2018 and it would forever change our daily lives. Each week, Hartley receives 28 hours of service intervention, six days a week. Through ABA, PT, OT and speech therapy, and the help of wonderful therapist and supervisors Hartley is learning to unlock her full potential. This year the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race has chosen Autism Speaks as their charitable fundraising partner. Autism Speaks has placed me on the fundraising team for this years event, while I strive to accomplish my personal goal. I am helping in the efforts to spread knowledge, understanding and acceptance of a diagnosis that effects 1 in 59 children. As I train day to day for such a high demand race I am strengthened, motivated and encouraged by Hartley. She

works harder in her therapies than I do in training. And trust me my training is tough! I often compare her therapy to my training and use it as motivation. If Hartley can do it, so can I, I tell myself. However on August 10th when I cross the finish line, my Leadville journey will end. This is where our similarities stop. Hartley's journey, like many children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, is forever ongoing and without a definitive end to treatment.Join me as I advocate and raise money in honor of Hartley and all those affected by ASD through the amazing organization of Autism Speaks!
