TABLA DE CONTENIDO
Sibling clashes and complaints happen in all families, but the path back to connection with siblings with autism requires a clearer roadmap for their brothers and sisters. For younger siblings, they may need help with frustration and sadness when their closest companion “won’t play with me,” or “won’t play right.” Older siblings may need proof that reaching out after past rejection is as safe as keeping a distance.
What Can You Do with Siblings This Month?
- Make a list of all your children’s mutually enjoyed activities. Often these are sensory experiences like baking, moving to music, flying a kite, creating with art, and water play
- Take photographs and video of these shared moments and regularly review these memories to reinforce the story of how well they get along
