Temple Grandin will be the featured speaker at UNT's Autism Event April 13. As part of the second annual "+ Autism" series, ACES is grateful for the opportunity to co-sponsor Temple Grandin's lecture and panel discussion in partnership with the University of North Texas. The event will be held at 9 a.m. at the Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Grandin will discuss her journey and offer her thoughts on the mysteries of Autism Spectrum Disorder in a lecture titled "Educating Students with Different Kinds of Minds."

Grandin is an autism activist and educator. She was diagnosed with autism at a young age and went on to earn a doctoral degree in animal science. Grandin is widely known in the cattle industry for her work in transforming how cows are herded; resulting in a more humane and cost efficient process. She is a best-selling author and was the subject of an Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning HBO film starring Claire Danes.

Following the lecture, Grandin will participate in a Q&A with panelists featuring UNT autism experts and ACES CEO, Kristin Farmer. "Dr. Grandin is one of the most iconic and important voices in the autism field,", says Ms. Farmer. It is my honor and privilege for ACES to support UNT by bringing her inspiring message to the Dallas-Fort Worth community."

ACES is dedicated not only to raising awareness to autism but also educating the community. The "+Autism" event series is all about developing a platform that showcases the many talents and abilities of individuals with autism spectrum disorder; whether the theme is art, music, a prominent speaker or computer programming.

ACES Founder and CEO, Kristin Farmer, is a graduate of the University of North Texas and benefactor to the UNT Kristin Farmer Autism Center. In 2016, ACES opened a clinic in central Dallas to serve the growing needs of the north Texas autism community. Proceeds from the April 13th event will benefit autism research at UNT.
