Participating in organized sport can be challenging to navigate for children with autism and their parents. The ACES Focused Social Groups program was created to address these challenges. ACES utilizes ABA methodologies to teach children how to play a sport in a fun and supportive team environment. Concentrating on the basic skills necessary to be successful in a team sport, clients practice drills and scrimmage while also working on appropriate social interactions and language. With the support of equipment provided by New Balance (Thank You!), the ACES Group Programming team is proud to announce their latest social group available to our clients in San Diego- organized soccer!Through the use of preferred interests and activities, staff target gross motor skills such as kicking, running, and throwing. As always, foundation skills such as following instructions, waiting, and turn taking are targeted, as are social and communication skills. Team work is also an area of focus. Helping and cheering for others, collaborating, and compromising is integral to successful social interactions.Check out these photos from our most recent soccer group in San Diego, currently running every Wednesday from 4-6pm.
